The way we think is, to a great extent, dictated by the people who raise us, our surroundings, advertising and the media. So, most of us have learned that paper is more environmentally-responsible than plastic, that buying fruit and vegetables without packaging is better, that recycled is better than new and that economy-sized packaging has less environmental-impact than per portion packaging. But is this all true?

Life Cycle Thinking

The LCA Centre’s knowledge regarding packaging and its impact on the environment is the result of extensive in-depth research. We take a scientific approach and do not allow ourselves to be influenced by perception, bias or political influence; we seek to identify the technical reality regarding the environmental impact of a product. Life Cycle Thinking can lead to surprising outcomes that are at odds with perception or environmental folklore.

A different perspective – interactive workshops

We are keen to share our knowledge during interactive workshops and customised presentations. We regularly share our knowledge regarding packaging and the environment with small and large groups in companies, academia and public bodies. We demonstrate why looking beyond the common environmental folklore is important. These presentations are very well received and prove to be a real eye-opener for many participants.

The life cycle under the microscope

In our Life Cycle Thinking training sessions, we examine the life cycle of packaging. We look at the entire process from raw materials to end-of-life and interpret the associated impact indicators and the environmental implication of the studied packaging. These training sessions leave the participant with the knowledge and the understanding of how to address the environmental implications of their packaging choices.
